Online petition opposing Beeches development
In the Bournville Ward we have launched an online petition to oppose the development of a site in Bournville called the Beeches.
Online Petition
We, the concerned residents of Bournville, urge Spring Housing to immediately ‘place on hold’ their plans to convert the Beeches conference facility into 26 flats specifically intended for 26 homeless families. We believe that before proceeding with this conversion, it is crucial for Spring Housing to conduct and publicly make available an Impact Assessment of their proposals. Something they have so far failed to do.
While we fully understand the importance of addressing homelessness and supporting vulnerable families, we are concerned about the potential impact this large conversion may have on our neighbourhood, including schools and medical facilities.
We believe that transparency is essential in ensuring that all parties involved are well-informed and can work together towards a solution that benefits everyone.
That Impact Assessment will help to address three key areas:
1. Operational Impact: Converting a conference facility into residential flats for 26 homeless families raises questions about how this new facility will function within an already mature residential area in terms of schools and medical facilities. No investigation has taken place and Spring Housing have very little local knowledge regarding Bournville and the state of its local services.
2. Support and Supervision: It is imperative for us to understand what support services will be provided by Spring Housing within this new facility. We seek clarification on whether there will be professional staff available onsite who can offer guidance and assistance to these families.
3. Community Integration: As responsible residents who value inclusivity and community cohesion, we want reassurance from Spring Housing regarding their plans for integrating these new residents into our neighbourhood effectively. This includes details on any initiatives aimed at fostering positive relationships between existing residents and those moving into these flats.
We kindly request that before proceeding with any further steps, Spring Housing addresses these concerns and provides a clear and comprehensive explanation of their plans for the Beeches conversion via an Impact Assessment. We believe that transparency is essential in maintaining trust between residents, and other stakeholders involved.
By signing this petition, we express our desire Spring Housing to halt this conversion while they then conduct and publicly make available a full Impact Assessment into their proposals to ensure that all relevant information is shared with residents before proceeding with this project. Together, let us work towards a solution that not only supports homeless families but also preserves the harmony of our residential area.
